Equip K9 LLC - Premier Dog Trainer
About Equip K9
Equip K9 is about transforming the lives of dogs and handlers. Transformation begins when it becomes intentional by the handler, and they decide to change the way training is done with their dog. Unfortunately, confusing, and conflicting information garnered from the internet, friends, and others bring the handler’s desire for transformation to a halt. Understanding the handler’s desire for transformation, Equip K9 developed an Intentional Growth Plan for dogs and handlers to fulfill a purpose. Whether that purpose is completing the foundational levels of obedience or fine-tuning your skills for the elite levels of detection, tracking, service work, or competition, Equip K9 is here to help you grow and succeed when reliability matters!
About the Founder of Equip K9
The founder of Equip K9, Jacky Brustkern has been involved in dog training since the 1980s. He has attended school at Cambridge Institute of Dog Behaviour & Training in England, spent six months at North State K-9 Academy in Sanford NC, training detection, tracking and police dogs. Studied Ian Dunbar’s Science-Based Dog training methods and attended several seminars relating to dog behavior, training, and health. Jacky continues to educate himself in all aspects of the dog
Jacky’s method of training utilizes Classical and Operant conditioning, as a measurable scientific proven training system by implementing a tool he calls “PAW the Reliability Wheel” exclusive to only Equip K9 clients.
Jacky believes that every dog and handler is unique in their design and relationship. First, dogs are animals with inborn instincts that require basic needs. Those needs are usually provided by the handler. Therefore, it is the handler’s responsibility to discover what motivates their dog to respect, respond, and bond to them in a healthy way. Second, the handler projects energy and or a state of mind when interacting with their dog. The dog mirrors this energy and state of mind and responds accordingly to the handler. This is where confusion or frustration is rooted. Implementing the Intentional Growth Plan for Dogs and Handlers solves this problem. Give Equip K9 a call if you want to start an Intentional Growth Plan for you and your dog.
Intentional Growth Plan For Handler's and Dog's
“You can change all things for the better when you change yourself for the better.”
Jim Rohn
What a pointe statement by Jim Rohn! The Intentional Growth Plan (IGP) is done deliberately with a definite purpose in mind. It is a plan that is expected to grow and add value over time by acting out a specific plan of action. The IGP is unique for every handler and dog because every one of us has different outcomes we are trying to achieve with our dogs. Some want just the fundamental basics of good manners, while others want to work with their dog at higher levels such as detection, tracking, service dog work, or competition. The list of things you can do with your dog is really left to the imagination.
Transformation can only occur when the handler intentionally decides to grow in their knowledge and then physically take action towards the realization of the desired outcome. Thinking and planning alone will not help the handler grow. To grow in value the handler must act, record their results, and then reflect on the results of their actions. This is where PAW the Reliability Wheel helps the handler make the right decisions in their training plans to achieve their desired outcomes. If you are ready to Intentionally Grow and transform the relationship with your dog, give Equip K9 a call today!
